Rick, You started off right with 44KW and then slipped into 440KW.
I think a reasonable number can come from Coulomb technologies' charger. It can do 80A at 220V or about 18KW. So in one hour, you can add 18KWH to your battery on one of these high end chargers.

On the life of lead acid batteries, my experience is that they last 3-4 years in my cars.
So the question becomes, how can they be warranted for 10 years? I think the answer would have to be you charge the customer for 3 sets of batteries and then warrantee them for 10 years. When he comes in for a replacement, just replace them.
They good thing about this approach is that it puts the cost in to perspective. If Li-Ion will last 10 years and Lead-acid will only last 3, the warrenteed cost might be about the same.
