I think NHTSA can cut to the chase on Toyota’s acceleration problem by consulting with Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple. He has been able to replicate the acceleration problem reliably and frequently in his 2010 Prius while Toyota claims the problem is so sporadic it is hard to diagnose. Clearly this is a software glitch, and not a hardware repair. Unfortunately, Toyota is applying a hardware band-aid which doesn’t address the underlying disease.

CNET broke Wozniak’s story on February 1. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13924_3-10445564-64.html?tag=newsEditorsPicksArea.0

CBS just picked up the report yesterday: http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503983_162-20000135-503983.html

Delay in reporting is getting bad again. I think it's because the traditional media can't cope with the huge through-flow of news that you get online.

You heard it here first, folks ;)

*Coincidentally, I *did* extend an invite to Woz, but haven't heard back.
