Sorry to hear about the limitations on electric cars in Massachusetts. But, at least Massachusetts was ahead of California on gay marriage! :-)
So, no 3-wheel cars allowed in Massachusetts? No Neighborhood vehicles either? So you need someone with Star power to champion your cause- preferably a favorite son from Massachusetts who is into cars? Hey- call Jay Leno and see if he'll do your show! He's test-driven the Tesla, the Ventrix electric motorcycle and owns a Baker electric car from early in the last century. Although, since you are going to California next week...can we say "Bo knows Tonight Show;-)"
Well I am impressed with how well actual EV drivers like their cars. Curious about this secret meeting you are doing in California.
5 Reason car companies don't like EVS.
1. Might affect dealership repairs and maintenance.
2. Too reliable might hurt long term sales.
3. Since the cars don't require complex smog systems, electronics, engines, and other components it leaves open the risk 100s of small U.S. car companies to get into the car building business. Especially Chinese knockoffs and components that can be made far cheaper in China.
4. The risk of a massive recall, what if they need to replace batteries or engines from 100,000 cars.
5. The threat of new electric car engineers and staff on the old gas engine building king-of-the-hill engineers.
Early Adopters vs. Early Adapters

Here is a nitpick for you. You seem you use the phrase "Early Adapter" (note the "a" in the middle) when I think you mean early adopter (note the "o" in the middle).
An early adopter is some one that "adopts" a technology early and gives feedback to the manufacturer.
An early adapter is someone the modifies (adapts) a piece of technology for his own purposes.
In think in most contexts, you really intend the meaning of early adopter which is much more common.
