Just a note on the crane and cable in the Moller videos...I'm not 100% sure, but I think this is a safety system. Testing a vehicle like this where you only have a limited number of prototypes (maybe only one), if you had a failure of the control system or engine system during an airborne test you'd probably lose the vehicle completely, or at least do serious damage to it, and possibly the pilot as well. With a safety cable attached, if something catastrophic happened you'd just end up with a suspended prototype and lower it safely to the ground.

I like the idea of the pv kit you can install yourself in an day or weekend.
However, what I really like to see is an entire home designed for PV. I truly this will be the new dominate home style in about 20 years. Where each home might have 2000 sq feet of pv designed in the building. That would give you all your energy needs. I really like the new trend of new housing not having trees near the property. Just a big upkeep and they block sunlight. Trees are meant for the forest and parks, however you could still have 8' drawf citrus for example.
I would not downplay the importance of trees in yards- besides the aestetics- after all neighborhoods with trees look a whole lot better than treeless ones- they provide shading and cooling- perhaps not a big deal in some places, but here in Texas, it can make a big difference in the cooling of the home. This does make for some interesting issues with integrating PV with shading around the home, but not an insurmountable one I'm sure. Trees do create more work and headaches (I HATE to rake!), but then again, so do my kids;-)
