Entertaining interview with Greg Zanis- it makes for an interesting contrast to the Solaroads interview from last week. They sounded a lot alike and both had 'out there' type of products. But Mr Zanis' car is indeed real, and while I do not think his design has a snowball's chance of succeeding for several reasons (size, weight, interior space/seating), I admire his creativity and the decision on his part not to just retire to the links every day, but to take an idea he is passionate about and put his money where his mouth is. I wish him great success, if only in raising awareness of other EV possibilities. Who knows? Perhaps I will be driving a Pyramid one day as well;-)
I also think he is right in part about Li-ion vs lead-acid batteries. I really think there is going to be a good-sized EV-market chunk to had by a car manufacturer that can produce an inexpensive EV using lead-acid batteries, especially if it is with one of the newer lead-acids from Firefly, CSIRO or Axion Power for example.
Don't be so quick to write off EESTOR or its practices. I'm not saying they will succeed, or to bet the butter money on them- they are a high-risk, high-reward type of investment. As for their agreements? Well, the agreement with ZENN came at a time when it would have been hard to find someone to invest in them, and, frankly, I think (perhaps a bit idealistically) that Dick Wier and Ian Clifford may be kindred spirits in their desire to change the world, in their own way- so that investment a few years ago makes huge sense. As for their recent deal with Light Electric Vehicles, it too makes sense for a couple of reasons. EESTOR gets an influx of cash without giving up any shares for an agreement for a niche market- and this influx of cash comes not only from the inked deal, but if they do come to market, you will see a large and quick ramp-up of two and three-wheeled vehicles with EESTOR's EESU in them- these vehicles, as Dick Wier points out to the EESTOR-Blogger, do not have to take the long, expensive road through crash tests that the 4-wheeled variety will have to. A method to their madness perhaps?
And, that still leaves the mid-size to large 4-wheel market (most cars) to sell to, along with the power industry needs for a low-cost, high-power storage unit. And this does not include the Electronics industry if they are able to produce EESU's in a small form-factor like they originally posited a few years ago. EESTOR still has vast markets to sell to.
Hmmm. I'm quite concerned that the DreamCar123 venture is a pyramid scheme.
"Ba-dom-dom"
I'm here all week. Try the veal.
I think I remember Greg saying he has tunnels in his basement. Well, he does... at least scale model tunnels. But I am not sure why.

He is an interesting guy.
OK, this video explains his vision a little bit more.

If you thought the pyramid shaped car was a little "out-there", it is only the beginning. The pyramid shaped cars are to be flown to other planets. During the flight, we will beam energy to the pyramid rockets using laser beams. That is how they will be powered during flight.
Then at the new planet, we will create triangular shaped tunnels that we can drive the pyramid shaped cars though. The tunnels will be full of oxygen that we generaled (somehow).
Greg is a man with a plan. All you silly people out there trying to make EVs are missing the big picture. We really need to be colonizing other planets.
Before you can go to the planet, you must first drink the kool-aid.
