A good interview with Cole Quinnell, from Chrysler's ENVI Division- very good information about what Chrysler has been doing, although it will be interesing to see how their implementation compares with GM's on the Volt.  The link to their EV effort is:  https://www.chryslerllc.com/en/innovation/envi/overview/

To see the offerings of Electric Motorsport, including their new EV Motorcyle:  http://www.electricmotorsport.com/store/ems_electric_motorcycle_super_motard.php

A good article on Tesla, and a good cautionary tale as a whole, from Business week:  http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/08_44/b4106080144482.htm

Whoa!  Second bonus today!  Ausra built a Solar Thermal plant (a small, 5MW for 3500 home plant) in just seven months, and started it on Thursday.  The Govinator was there, and you can catch the video at:  http://www.gov.ca.gov/

The Ausra web site:  http://www.ausra.com/

I know- not exactly EV news, but both events (Ausra and Heliovolt) are a step in the same direction.

Rick,
I really didn't find much for DC Brushless motors for conversions.  The only two I found were

1) BMC Brushless
2) Mars Brushless

The BMC motors seem to be of the in-hub type for bicycles and the Mars motors seem to be on the small side.  The link below shows some of the Mars motors.  After the page loads, scroll to the bottom.

http://www.robotmarketplace.com/products/motors_brushless.html

Interestingly, the Vectrix people had Parker Hannifin Divisione make a custom DC Brushless motor for their application.  They also had Gold Peak make a custom NiMH battery for their application.  These are not your average group of backyard mechanics.

Regarding DC Brush motor, it seems like all the converters use the products from the company called "Advanced DC Motors, Inc." in Syracuse, NY.

Thanks

John C. Briggs
