EV Range Rover? I guess the guilty rich might buy one at $187,000 to $246,000. Call me when they add a Poulson Hybrid type system to a Subaru with a boxer diesel engine.

On open sourcing- since the Government has lent GM and Ford way more money than they are worth- I say the government should be able to lease the technology to any American company that wants it and at a reasonable rate- How can you have free market capitalism when we won't let all these companies have the freedom to fail.
Why can't you just let Rick finish. I wanted to hear the rest of what he was saying. I found it interesting. Oh well.
We love Rick... but we have been receiving feedback about letting some listeners (not just Rick) go on for too long. We are trying to keep it under 2 minutes per person.
I think that Rick's comment on open sourcing is spot on. We have a tremendous number of home garage tinkerers who are making usable EV's every day. Just take a look at EVAlbum.com. If we could some up with some open source standards for the motor, controller, etc - we could seriously increase the throughput of the homebrew effort.
Eventually, if we can get enough people making EV's out of their garages of a relatively similar design we can start selling them to our friends, co-workers, etc. If we produce enough of these cars we can completely sidestep the need for major auto manufacturers to deliver the cars that we're asking for.
This would provide the competition that the major auto companies seem to need to change direction. In fact, this scenario reminds me of the original hot-rods that home garage mechanics were building. Those cars eventually led to the production muscle cars. It just seems that the auto makers are so large and non-agile that they can't change direction and make a different kind of widget.

Wow. Does anybody complain about YOU guys going on for too long? I mean besides me. :) There are usually more than a few minutes that could be paired out of each 'Cast, I'd think!
Darrell, Right on man.Bo and Ryan, We love you anyway.ThanksJohn C. Briggs
Personally Darell, I like Bo and Ryan's facilitation of the show. When I interview you I will ask you if you hit the other peace marchers with your peace sign.
Will you adopt a sunnier disposition when the primary auto technology is electric?
Fred
Fred, I think it is a fair bet that Darrell was going for humor with his comment rather than a serious complaint. Perhaps humor and irony is tough to get right in this format.LaterJohn C. Briggs
Yeaaa... I'm not so sure about that one John. :)
BTW, I love Fred's
"... if you hit the other peace marchers with your peace sign."
A great piece of ironic commentary.
