About the energy of air power. Compare to electric 40 mile volt. 1 gal = approx 33 kwh. Volt can go 40 miles on 8Kwh electric energy. Volt stores .24 gasoline gal equivalent (8kwh/33kwh is .24 gal). About 160 +- mpgE (40 miles/.24 gal). Batteries are 85 - 95 % efficient. 8700 kwh energy would be required to store 8 kwh. 800 wh is lost. Since 80 % of 8700kwh of compressed air would be lost this leaves 1.6 kwh of actual storage when using equivalent energy as volt during charging. That's a 6.6kwh loss. Driving the volt on 1.6 kwh would net 4 - 10 miles per charge. Doing 5 miles on 1.6 kwh would net you 104.1 mpgE. 1.6 kwh = .048 gal and 5 mile/.048 gal = 104 mpgE. Correct me if im wrong. I'm trying to get some perspective and share my thoughts here at the same time.

If you have some source material on compressed air vs. electric I would very much like to read it. I've always had some doubt about compressed air cars from an energy efficiency standpoint. Anything you could provide me would be most welcome.

Your comment regarding Solar Toilets caught me by surprise. Not so much the fact that you mentioned it but you laughed as though such a thing was not real.
We have Solar Toilets out here in Washington State on Mt. Rainier and I just ran across a post that you might get a kick out of.
