Hey everyone!
Ryan here, hijacking Bo's blog. Well, as you all know, Bo is in Italy, and I've been staying at the Bennett residence. Walking by the Vectrix in the garage every day to drive my old gas powered Honda Accord provided just too much temptation. Today I succumbed, and took the Vectrix for a spin. First let me tell you, this was my first time riding any kind of two-wheeled vehicle w/ more power than a bicycle. I have to say the Vectrix does have some pretty decent pick-up (especially compared to my bicycle).
Well, it was a fun 30 minutes. Until the neighbors called the cops. Apparently, 62 in a 20 was not looked too kindly upon. Oh well, they'll get over it. I'm out of here in another month anyway.
Thanks for the EV grin, Bo! But why didn't you tell me you need a motorcycle license to ride that thing? I left the ticket on your desk-- it doesn't need to be paid until after you're back anyway.
Don't just listen to the EVcast -- experience and be a part of it! Join us at 1:00pm Eastern, M-F, in our live video broadcast and chat along with us!
Hijacking my blog, driving my Vectrix, sleeping in my bed. It is a good thing that my wife Kim came with me on this trip.

I am glad to see the Vetrix is not going to waste. EV's are few and far between, so the ones that we have should be out on the roads.
The other day I was down in Delaware at a restaurant and decided to eat outside. It was beautiful weather and I thought it would be nice. However I was shocked at how noisy some cars are like the new Ford Mustang. But even more shocking was how loud motorcycles are (e.g. Harley-Davison).
It occurred to me that for every person that complains that EVs might be too quiet, there should be 20 people complaining that some ICE cars and motorcycles are way too noisy. All I could do was sit there, eat my dinner, and dream of a silent EV future.

This was a really quality post. In theory I’d like to write like this too – taking time and real effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate a lot and never seem to get something done.Discover the Lofoten Islands http://lofotennorway.info/) in this brand new ebook. You will also get updates on the best deals and what you need to know about Lofoten before visiting the island.
I have been in Italy for about 1 month now (half way into my 8 week trip) and I have seen several EVs in the cities. Being in these cities where the roads are about as wide as a New York sidewalk, I see more potential for EV adoption here than anywhere, especially since I have only seen like two gas stations so far.
There seem to be a few Italian companies producing city EVs. Here is one I have seen most on the road: http://www.maranello4cycle.com/ . Due to Europe's "quadricycle" law, there are more on the roads here than in US where these cars really would be dangerous. However in these Italian cities, I would say more than 50% of vehicles on the roads are scooters, and SUVs are almost not existent.
Well, off to dinner! The food is awesome here!
Jeez Bo, I know you're a tourist but do you have to look like a tourist? Ugh, lose the "bum bag" around your waist!
Committing fashion crimes in Italy of all places. Momma mia.
LOL Gav! I was getting ready to say the same thing when I saw your post- nothing says 'tourist' like a fanny pack;-) Though, in all fairness, I must admit to the utter practicality of them, especially when it is hot.
Good observations Bo- your analysis of the transportation habits/habitat of the European cities is why EV's may take off much faster there than here- well, that and $8/gallon for gas equivalent;-)
Wo. Wait. What did he say? Huh?
It is hard to focus on what Bo is saying with that Fanny Pack around his waist.
Oh, I get it. This is a shenanigan. OK I feel better now. I thought Bo might actually be wearing that around Italy.
All right! Enough with the fanny pack comments! Stop picking on me! You are all jerks! I'm telling Ryan!
