Interesting info on Applied Science Inc, although I am not sure how they would merge their technology with existing Li-Ion batteries, like A123 for example. But it is always good to keep abreast of posible scientific breakthroughs. Their web site is at: http://www.apsci.com/home.html
Bo's idea of the day? Keep the car intact with its ICE engine and install an electric motor and enough batteries to power the car for 40 miles. Not going to happen, but good to keep thinking! Too much weight, not enough space and problems with the dual drive train come to mind. I think it would be easier to allow gliders than to do this, or wait for 2-3 years for the range-extended EV's like the Volt.
The video for the party at Plug-in America is on their main web page at: http://pluginamerica.org/
Sadly, I fear that Bo's analysis for Venture Vehicles EV is accurate- I absolutely love this car, but I fear they are finding it hard to replace the ICE with an electric engine and enough batteries, in addition to keeping another engine for a range extender- but I hope they succeed- the videos of the ICE version in Europe still make me smile and think "X-Wing Pilot, here I come!" http://www.flytheroad.com/
The Uno- this was in Popular Science as a concept vehicle that won an award- the inventor had actually make a working prototype, as I remember- but it looked a lot rougher than the concept shown of course! This is, at least, an interesting design! Practical? Well, time will tell. Cool looking? Definitely! Again, all thinking outside the box should be welcomed- some may provide the breakthroughs we need, and perhaps in some area not initially seen. The web site is at: http://www.the-uno-tomorrows-transportation.com/
And- a few hours in advance- congrats Bo, Ryan and Jason on 100 podcasts!

Rather than allow auto companies put electric motors in new models without additional crash testing they go ahead with these bailouts and mergers. I try to like GM, but why do they charge people for dents in the EV1 then crush the cars when people would be willing to offer some money for them as is. Why is their product cycle so long. Why are the owners of dealerships so rude. Maybe GMs ashes would give rise to the Teslas, BGautos, and Zenns of the world.
