Hi Nikki, Your plug in prius blowing up is just very sad and will surely not be a good publicity to electric vehicles. I believe that the people that put the plug-in system in your car should have placed a a lot more safety measures that would prevent the explosion(was there fire?). THere are certainly multiple or parallel ways or sensors( overcurrent, high temp, fire sensor, smoke sensor,etc) that can be installed in the car to prevent this. John M.
