Is is just me or does the intro-music seem funkier this week?
Poor Aptera. I fear the worst for this company. I think the longer it takes to get the car on the market the more difficult that it will be for them. I love the Aptera, but if given the choice between a $40,000 Aptera and a $40,000 Chevy Volt, I would take the Volt. It has nothing to do with the details of the car design and everything to do about the companies. GM is clearly a better bet for my money.

Dr. Briggs,
I agree to a point. I would want to know the company I purchased my car from would still be around to service it incase there were problems, or if I needed to, at any point, change out the battery pack. That said, the advantages of a vehicle that has a Cd of .15, or is it .12, just seem staggering to me. Plus I tend to be a BEV purist, since there's less to break on a BEV. I do like the idea of having that safety backup of a gas generator, but if there is a company that builds a vehicle with 280 mpc (mile per charge) range, I don't think I'd have range anxiety.
That all said, I pretty much never run on battery power with my Mac even though I get about 4 or 5 hours w/wifi off.

It's really sad. EV history is littered with the bodies of companies who brought EVs to the market only to have them dashed on the rocks a few years later.
A more hopeful outcome would be that Aptera end up like Twike - a niche market vehicle which is considered only a hobyist's vehicle and one which requires owner maintencne.
Sadly though, that's the last thing the EV world needs. We need mainstream vehicles, with mainstream market share. And the Aptera isn't that vehicle.
I want to see Aptera succeed, but it does look ominously unlikely at the moment. Perhaps it's going to be one of these vehicles which will fail initally, to be re-born a few years down the line. It's happened with a handful of EVs already, so it's a distinct possibility.
