Hi Nikki, great show as always. I wanted to comment on Ricks feedback about the EV1 battery pack and why the smaller pack was more popular. He stated that a smaller pack has a shorter recharge time, and while that is true it doesn't work for this example. The reason is that if you had drove a EV1, say 30 miles the recharge time would be the same regardless of the size of the pack. The recharge time is going to be determined by the distance traveled and the watt hours per mile (or km) that the vehicle uses. So a larger pack only has longer recharge times if you drive farther, and this is to be expected.
The important thing for shorter recharge times is to get the watt hours per mile to be as low as possible. A good step in this direction is to make the electric vehicle as small as possible to do the job required. Vehicles like the imev and Tata Nano EV could be very practical for a lot of people. Their small size means that every hour of recharge will get you more miles of range than a larger vehicle and recharge times for a given distance will be quicker.

Regarding locations for automotive production facilities.
It seems logical that auto manufacturers would want to be in a place with existing technology base and experienced workers. However, I know recently, Honda was looking to find a place for a new plant in the US and their criterion was the opposite. They want a place with no other industry so that the people would work cheaply. The wisdom seems to be that the cost of unskilled labor is more important than other factors. Of course, state and local government incentives matter too.
