500,000 Leafs per year, not likely.
The best selling car in the usa is the Toyota Camry at 25,000 (roughly) per month or 300,000 per year.

Happy New Year, guys!
I think that 500,000 Leafs sold per year goal is world-wide, not just in the US, John.
What is the plural of Prius? http://www.wired.com/autopia/2008/01/what-is-the-plu/
I think Jay Leno likes EVs, but is honest about their limitations as well- he has test-driven a bunch of them, most of which you can see videos about, on his Jay's Garage web site.
Oh boy! 2011 predictions!
I disagree, Ryan- I think the Volt will outsell the Leaf, because the 2012 models will be available in 2011- and I think GM will up the production of the Volt. I hope they both sell well, however;-)
Aptera- no death knell this year, but no car either- they will either make it or die in 2012- and unfortunately, I think you are right- the management team that took over seems to be driving it into the ground.
Tesla- I think you are right- they are in a good spot and will have this year to build out their Model S prototypes. Because of this, their stock will probably go down this year, unless they can create some news in other ventures, like the RAV4 EV for example.
Wheego Whip- dies a quiet, slow death...
Fiskar- has gotten plenty of money, but their record for delivery seems suspect, and the cost of their car has gone up by about 50%- they are going to be regulated to a niche market and may or may not survive past the next 5 years.
The Coda- well, I think they will survive 2011, but maybe not 2012
BYD and ZAP - just die! Please die!
Eestor! They will not die this year- and I hope this is the year they finally overcome that last hurdle. And you are drawing too much from the too little that Eestor releases- Dick Weir has not released news, for the most part, to the general public. ZENN could go into hibernation, or sell more stock to keep operating for another couple of years.
Gas prices- now at about $2.90 a gallon in Austin- I think it will be consistantly to $3.50 to $3.75 a gallon- and $4 a gallon would not surprise me- it has to trend upwards with millions of new car buyers in India and China.
Conversely, battery costs will trend down- but not enough to impact 2011, sadly. All-in-all- should be an interesting year, this year of 2011;-)
Congrats on your new E-book venture! I know it has crunched your time, but that is a good thing for that new business. Look forward to hearing from you when you can broadcast;-)
Sad to hear that Bo and Ryan are taking a break from the EV world, but for those still wanting a weekly dose of EV news you can get it at www.transportevolved.com where we're still doing our weekly shows. You can also find us on Youtube, Blip.Tv and iTunes. Nikki.
Can't believe I finally come back and EV Cast is dead.
