I read the same article but remember just like the Air zinc batteries it would operate as a fuel cell or as a nonrechargeable battery- I could see them used as a hybrid with a rechargeable battery-example an EV with enough rechargeable lithium battery to go 40-50 miles on a charge and a vanadium boride (VB2)/air cell that would could carry enough fuel to travel 400-500 miles. This combination would be a very useful car but you'd still need the infrastructure to provide the vanadium boride and to recycle the spent fuel byproducts.Where they might be very interesting is in an EV motorcycle or Bike with their impressive energy storage to weight-size ratio.
