This will be an EVcast event like none other... our first "crowdsourced" event. What does that mean? We will have a live conference call where YOU can call in and be a part of the discussion. Come with your opinion as to why or why not government should see to it that gas prices never go below a certain dollar amount.

To take part in this "historic" event, call in on Tuesday at 1:05pm Eastern. Call Details below:

Conference Name: Floor on Gas Price? Yes or No?
Dial in number: 1 (605) 475-6190
Access Code: 337193

NOTE: You must turn down the volume on your PC if listening to the live chat at the same time. Please do not call from a cell phone, and do your best to make sure background noise it at a minimum.

Want to participate by live chat only? Click the "LIVE BROADCAST" link at EVcast.com during the show.

We look forward to hearing what you have to say!!!

I don’t understand the logic behind a minimum gas price. Why penalize the people who bought the only thing available at the time ICE Powerwed Autos. When there is a plugin hybrid or EV able to go 200 miles and be refueled ( Gas or Electric) in minutes not hours, on the market it should be heavily subsidized until the supply out paces demand. Then we should start putting a tax on new ICE powered vehicle sales to the point that the ICE vehicles are more expensive to run no matter how cheap gas is. After most of the cars on the road are EV’s or Plugin Hybrid’s which will take over 10 years you could look at a mileage tax on ICE’s after all we will be paying one on our EV’s by then anyway and it could get higher over time for the ICE’s so at some point only collectors will keep them.

No! Price floors and ceilings never work. A better solution would be a tariff on imported oil to fund oil replacement programs such as electric cars and range extended electric cars (not hybrids since they always required gasoline).

It was intentional that I did not include solar and wind benefits for the tariff since they do not directly replace oil consumption. I am a huge advocate for solar but I prefer the solution the Germany uses that guarantees a buy-back price for solar generated electricty.
