"I got scared", too funny!! Haw Haw! Must be a pretty cool machine then! Sound like a small jet - cool sound! So Bo, interested in adopting a mature son?? Ok, now that is settled….”Hey ‘Dad’ can I borrow your new car when you get it”?? Your future grateful ‘son’, Andrew

Boy that must be frustrating for you Bo! Tesla: Merry Xmas, Bo. Have a ride in your new toy. Bo: (buzzing along in new toy) Whoopee! Tesla: Glad you enjoyed it, Bo. Now we're going to put in the closet for you and you can't take it out again until July 2009. Bo: Arrghh! Or maybe you're REALLY INTO delayed gratification;) Seriously though, what a sweet ride. It reminds me that the quiet whine of a nicely sorted out EV like the Tesla means the manufacturer has to be extra careful about weeding out sounds that an ICE vehicle masks. Tire noise, suspension creaks, etc. are easily overshadowed by ICE engine noise whereas an EV lets them hear them. Listening to the video, it seems like Tesla has a home run in the NVH department.

Oops. Meant to say "....are easily overshadowed by ICE engine noise whereas an EV lets you hear them." My only defense is I was caffeine deprived at the time I wrote that.

Bo, Did you really fall out of the car? Hope you didn't get hurt. A few years ago I was really interested in the Honda S2000 sports car. After getting in and out of it, I decided that it was not the vehicle for me. A sports car is not for everyone. But what a seriously nice car. It amazes me that the only two EV's that are really available are the Tesla and the Zap Xebra. That is one hell of a two sided coin. Later John C. Briggs

Classic! Thanks for uploading guys! Loved it! Call me strange, but it's the only supercar I can think of that stirs me. Give me a Lambo or Porsche to test drive and I couldn't care less, but I'd just LOVE to drive a Tesla. Even if it was just fr two minutes in a giant carpark. You lucky buggers!

I was saving for a Porsche Kayman until I saw a Tesla in LA. I then decided that's where my extra $100k is going. With one kid in college and another waiting, I'll be enjoying the senior menu at Denny's before I get to see one of these in my driveway. A Zap or a Tesla. Okay, we have the 2 extremes. If we give the big 3 auto makers their $25B bailout ya think they'll fill in the gaps? Probably not. :-( Bo, you deserve it, brother. I hope you have a blast! - Jim Powers

You left me wanting more with your video. I am sure we will get the full story during Monday's podcast. Maybe you could import a http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/11/20/worlds-first-plug-in-elec_n_145308.html BYD from China as an in between. Note from npr stories http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=97295908&ft=1&f=1003 http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=97295913 Tibet is one of the world's leading sources of cobalt. No wonder china wants to keep Tibetan's their slaves. Tibet had a treaty with Mongolia in 1913 for territorial integrity (Independence). At the time China was not a power or threat. Electric car represent a positive aspiration. Investing in the transmission infrastructure should be part of our economic stimulus. BO YOU HAVE JUST ACCOMPLISHED A WORLD'S FIRST!!! In episode seven of series twelve; Clarkson presented a segment, including a test drive, of the Tesla Roadster. The segment showed the provided car's batteries running flat after 55 miles, saying that the recharge would take 16 hours and also that the car then broke down. Tesla Motors' Rachel Konrad stated that the cars provided never reached less than 20% charge, none needed to be pushed off the track at any point, the recharge time was 3.5 hours, the brake failure shown in the segment was actually a blown fuse. The BBC responded to these claims with a statement saying "the tested Tesla was filmed being pushed into the shed in order to show what would happen if the Roadster had run out of charge. Top Gear stands by the findings in this film and is content that it offers a fair representation of the Tesla's performance on the day it was tested" without addressing the other concerns.
